Kyoto ryokan "Kinoe" is a traditional Japanese-style hotel located in the Gion
district of Kyoto. Gion is one of Kyoto’s most historic areas, and is famous for
being "the district of Geisha".
The hotel is located near popular landmarks such as the Yasaka Shrine, Kodai-ji Temple,
Kennin-ji Temple (which is the first Zen Temple in Japan), Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka and
Kiyomizu Temple. These places are, in addition to their cultural significance, exquisitely
beautiful sights in their own right.
For dinner, Kinoe provides delicious, traditional cuisine that encapsulates the beauty of
the Japanese seasons. Kinoe welcomes you with supreme “Omotenashi”, which translates into
English as “sincere hospitality”.
Guest room
Experience a form of accommodation quite unlike that of a typical Western hotel. Every room is elegantly furnished in the Japanese style.
Calligraphy, paintings and flower arrangements are displayed in the living room alcove.
Bath
As well as the private bath in your room, there are two spacious public baths available, one for gentlemen and one for ladies.
The baths are open 24 hours a day, and are the perfect place to relax after a trip around Kyoto.
Cuisine
“Kaiseki ryori” is a set of high-quality Japanese dishes.
”Kyo-kaiseki” ? which is Kyoto’s own style of kaiseki ryori - is particularly special. This traditional meal has a history of more than 1,000 years, and has been developed with influences from Buddhism and the tea ceremony.
Our kaiseki ryori delights guests with it’s carefully-prepared dishes and delicious seasonal ingredients.
Places to see
There are a number of traditional temples and shrines around Kinoe including
Kenninji temple (known as the oldest temple in Japan), Kodaiji temple, Kiyomizu temple,
and Yasaka Shrine.
Gion, a high-class Japanese-style entertainment district, is lined with restaurants,
teahouses and delightful old buildings.
In the Gion area you will also find “Gion Corner”, which is very popular among foreign
guests who wish to see one of Kyoto's traditional performances.
