Fukuoka 福岡
Fukuoka city is the capital of Fukuoka prefecture, and is located in northern Kyushu.
It has historically been a very active and important harbor city due to it's close proximity to the Asian mainland.
Fukuoka is a popular place among foreign and Japanese tourists alike.
At the well-known Yatai (open-air food stands) you can sample such dishes as Oden (Japanese hotpot) and a regional variation of Ramen-noodles in a pork-bone stock. This dish is known as Hakata Ramen, and is named after the port town which Fukuoka absorbed in 1889.
Hakata is also the name of Fukuoka's central district, where you will find Canal City Hakata, a large shopping and entertainment complex.
Those wishing to see something a little more traditional would do well to visit the beautiful gardens, shrines and temples of Dazaifu, just outside Fukuoka.

After 6 pm, you can find many food Yatai (stalls) in the Tenjin, Nakasu and Nagahama areas and you can enjoy local food such as Hakata Ramen, dumplings, Oden, Yakitori etc.

Kitakyushu 北九州

Kitakyushu City is the gateway between Honshu and Kyushu. It is connected by the Kanmon Strait Bridge and very important for both land and marine traffic. Kokura is quite busy area and there are Kokura castle, the writer Seicho Matumoto museum and also many shops included the food market Danga market. You can find 10 bridges on Murasaki river, which has various designs.
